I mean really... in this day and age with $99 iPhones.... no one has ANY business charging more than $99 for a dumbphone. Nice camera or not.

I'm really starting to think the only thing VZW has going for them is the call quality/signal. It is crazy how they disable features like WI-FI & GPS on certain models to make more $$$. Now a $279 flip phone w/a camera? WTF?

Are you serious???? I have a Verizon XV-6800 (HTC Mogul) which is a smart phone and the only way the GPS works is if I load up Verizon's crappy VZ Navigator for 9.95 a month (which is the same program the dumb phones use- guess they want to be like the government and make everyone equal since the dumb phones can't load/use free 3rd party software). I tried VZ Navigator for about 20 minutes...

Newer windows mobile phones and all blackberries come with GPS unlocked (assuming software is up to date)

This was done earlier this year.

Both people I work with have storms with google mats (no navigator) and one of them used to have an omnia with the same thig.

And yes, the Sprint mogal is the same model, the ATT version is not.

I tried VZ Navigator for about 20 minutes, called Verizon back and told them to remove it from my account since Live Search and Google Maps were much better programs. I had Microsoft's Live Search, Google Maps (FREE btw) and IGuidance all working fine using various hacks and GPS Gate until Verizon changed the AGPS sytem earlier this year blocking access to the tow

I think as long as people pay for these options, Verizon(or any carrier) will continue to charge. Just to let you know, I didn't leave Verizon because of lousy customer service. I don't care how nice a CSR is on the phone or how fast they respond to a call. If I'm not getting a good deal, I will be upset anyway.

Come to sprint buddy, good cs and great phones, and great plans, cant loose.

Actually, This would be correct. The roaming agreements that Sprint has basically gives Srint customers extensive US coverage where there is Verizon or other CDMA carriers when their home network is not available. Native or not, their coverage is very respectable. If there is no service, then chances are there is no Verizon as well.

sorry, not true. Sprint doesn't get to roam off of all verizon's coverage. I live in an area where verizon has 3g (only carrier to have it in area) and sprint gets nothing but maybe a bar or two near the highway.

On top of that, even if they could roam, it is voice only, not high speed data. So getting an "everything plan" is a waste of money if you can't use most of the "everything"

Sprint does have a lot of roaming agreements, but just because verizon/another CDMA is there doesnt mean they let sprint use their towers.

Sprint Doesnt lock down any phone. You never see a Sprint phone with a locked feature such as wifi, bluetooth or any thing that supposed to come standard with a cell phone. When I buy a cell phone, i want it all. Not to have to pay for things that should be free. Thats only fair regardless if its a "smartphone" or "dumbphone"

I'm sure I'm going to get flamed for saying this but why do people complain about VZW phones not having wifi? It is not necessary, they have a vast 3g network. Wifi to me seems redundant. In rural Wyo in a town of 3000 you still get evdo rev a. I guess it is cheaper to use wifi hotspots but why search for one when you can get unlimited data for $15 on a dumbphone and $30 on a smartphone.

Exactly! I agree with you! Besides look back a few months and see how much the first ****ty iphone was selling for. Quality and reliability of a network is far more important than what a device looks like.

Because a large majority of us already pay for home internet service in which we deploy our own wireless networks. What would be redundant in this case is paying a second time for service I already have, at speeds greater than what any 3G network can provide.

I'm sorry but your argument for wifi is to use your own home wireless network to connect to the INTERNET on the phone? Why in the world would use your phone to connect when your computer is only a few feet away! Absolutely absurd.

LOL wifi is not a big deal on a phone, really can we get past this point? I think when the @home products become a bigger deal it will matter but otherwise pretty useless.

Ok I'll give the exception to international travelers who use the wifi in the airport when they don't have connection but not really a big deal for americans.

It's all a conspiracy 🤣 With the exception of benefiting international travelers as someone else mentioned and maybe surfing the net a little faster, wifi isn't all that important as long as the network is good that the phone is on. 😁

Many office buildings or hospitals that have no cell signals whatsoever(as in lower floor waiting rooms, departments or offices) would require the use of wifi. In today's business practices of relying on communication, I would not own a device without it. However, I don't feel this phone is targeted for such clientele.

Look at the bigger picture. iphones and other smartphones get you with the data plans. Those phones cost hundreds more per year to have than this Casio.

The iphone requires a $30 a month data plan. The 3g is also outdated, aka it is a generation older. Of course it will be cheaper. New iphones are still 199.

Dumb phones do not require a data plan, meaning that carriers cannot subsidize the cost of these phones as much as they can for smartphones.

This phone has a huge camera, and meets military specifications for water/dust/shock resistance. This means it is a feature heavy phone in a very protective case, driving the price up even further.

Now, if this required a $30 a month data plan, yes it would be cheaper.

Don't complain about prices unless you know why they are the way they are.
