The modem were a little cheaper.

I don't normally need a wireless modem, as I find WiFi sufficient. However, there are times when I'm on vacation, renting a house or condo, where there's no broadband available.

I'd use this at those times and just purchase data when I need them.

If you are a heavy data user and Cricket is in your area, they may be a better option. You can get their modem for much less, and their "unlimited" cap is 5gb (if I recall correctly). I believe they cost $40/month, with no contract.

The catch is that you would need Cricket's network in your area. This would work for me, as I'm in one of their new AWS markets.
