Ota would mean that Palm/Sprint would push it directly to your pre rather than you having to initiate it.

OTA= over the air... as opposed to OTW for over the wire/hooked up to a computer. Whether it's pushed or pulled, it's still OTA.

My pre tried updating OTA, but froze up for four hours. It started the update once I connected to my wifi. Had to call tech support and last resort was to remove the battery. After removing the battering the phote booted up successfully, but the next day tried updating again and again it hosed up. Needless to say I returned the Pre:-( Very frustrating!!
