Not until later this summer.
...
It is sad, and BS, but heck it went that long, a few weeks or so longer is not really a big deal in he long run.
...
Thank you for being sane.
...
it is sad. apple and at&t could figure out how to put mms on the iphone. it's taken 2 years to get mms on there? so 20 a month is what at&t has been charging people for messaging on the iphone and no mms. did anyone point this out to them? still grossly over priced service.
...
it is a billing issue, not that either company cant figure it out. as stated, every iphone on at&t has an "MMS OPT OUT" soc on the line, since the previous OS versions did not support picture messaging. since we just started working on this w/the apple announcement, the ETA is 'this summer'. (should be interesting to see what we do for all these phones... check the OS version over the air and have the SOC removed? change all the rate plans to a new version that omits the soc? ...glad i wont be on that project or test team).
...
but the fact that they released a phone and had to go through the trouble of putting a block because they new that people would make it happen and they didn't want people to get mms...
...
No they did it for billing purposes... so people wont see a random mms on their bill that someone sent and call in and say "the iphone doesnt support mms". This way it blocks the message from even appearing OR charging on the bill.
...
no. it was so they could charge the same amount for unlimited text instead of unlimited messaging and make even more profit. text messaging cost companies pennies a day. it was another way at&t could squeeze more money out of people. the phone is capable of doing mms, there have been apps out that prove that...
...
I'm going to manually remove it in POS II and see if I can text. My guess is that I will be able to.
...
Will MMS work both for the sender and the receiver? I just want to make sure it's a two way street.
...
I heard a little rumour that it'd due to AT&T having to remove "MMS opt out" on all their 3G iphone accounts. That's what I hear.
So, I am going to manually remove mine, and upgrade to the 3.0 on the 17th, and if I remember, I'll report back and let you know if I can send and receive picture text. My guess is that I should be able to.
As for now, Emoji icons do an okay job.
...
how do you remove this manually? ๐คจ
...
Thats a load of horse ****...there's no billing that AT&T has to remove; they even said it on the article.. "We have to insure that are upgrades are complete so our customers have the best experience possible for MMS and tethering". Along with there coverage they truly are crappy. If it wasnt for the iPhone on AT&T no one would there stupid service. If other carriers around the world can have this at launch of the 3.0 software upgrade than why they hell cant these morons get with the program.? Cause they wanna screw consumers outta more money. And they cant keep up with Apples ever advancing iPhone... ๐ ๐ ๐
...
I suppose you're the carrier genius. I'm going to manually remove the "Opt Out MMS" and see what happens.
You seem to just be an angry individual that has brought nothing to this conversation.

Change phone features in POS II.
