Don't you see what Apple is doing? They are making a phone that is capably inferior to other products. I said capability inferior. They are making a phone that does not have normal functions cause they know that you will buy it anyway. Then they will give you a little bit each year to make you buy a new phone. How many of you have bought each and every version along with accessories that only work for the phone. Its not even a smartphone for crying out loud. I love playing with it but its just a toy.

My only question is. Can you have multiple applications open at the same time and switch back and forth with out them having to reopen? I have been unable to figure that part out. If I can figure that out then maybe Ill change my s...

Apples a good product, The Pre is a good product.

Toys to some, business tools to others, modern day walkmans to still others.
Both are smartphones. Get over it

To me, a smartphone is something that you can run multiple applications and switch back and forth on the fly. You should be able to be on the internet, facebook app, twitter app, receiving email and have a game paused in the background. That sounds like a smartphone to me. I dont care how pretty you are, but if you can only do 2 things at a time and one of those is being on the phone then that isnt a smartphone. So tell me what makes this a smartphone. and please dont say cause it has apps or that it play music, ordinary phones do the same thing but apple is just pretty. Being pretty doesnt make you smart either.

A smartphone is a mobile phone offering advanced capabilities, often with PC-like functionality. There is no industry standard definition of a smartphone. For some, a smartphone is a phone that runs complete operating system software providing a standardized interface and platform for application developers. For others, a smartphone is simply a phone with advanced features like e-mail, Internet and e-book reader capabilities, and/or a built-in full keyboard or external USB keyboard and VGA connector. In other words, it is a miniature computer that has phone capability

I think it's a great phone when you can conference call three people, AND browse the web on wifi or 3G.

I think your wants in a smartphone are too demanding. If you really want all that, get a Treo Pro.

I prefer limits on what the phone can do well, not pushing the phone to the brink of losing battery in a few minutes because I can't wait for an app to open. (2 seconds.) You're just really ADHD.

Sure, bash on the people that have the iPhone, then make a comment about what it'd take to get one, while sounding like you're already using one.

Seven email accounts? Do you have, like, 6 jobs and 1 personal account? Is that really necessary?

I'm not a sheep. I think Apple is smart. They're not entirely pissing me off for getting a 3G, because the update just isn't worth it, really. But it's VERY enticing to those on the original iPhones, who's contracts are up later this month. Good move on their part.

If they changed the phone entirely and did this and that, I'd be upset that I still have a 3G. But I think I can wait a year to see the next iteration. I'm not totally desperate for 32 gigs, a compass, a video camera and voice cont...

Having multiple personalities could make 7 email accounts useful too 🙄

No I have had various email account that I have used for one purpose or the other. You can thank Spam for that. Some of these I have had since the 90's....

Ditch em. I don't have my Juno account. When spam eats my account, I switch to a new one. Yahoo's spam filter is starting to really suck.

I hate the fact that I pay $30 a month to get spam pushed to my phone. At least deleting it's a breeze.

I meant sheep by they feed you a little at a time to keep you following them.

I think the Iphone is very neat, but thats it. Its not for me I need something that I can do multiple things on. Even if it did do these things, I wouldnt get one because they are holding out on features for the next year.

Every phone manufacturer improves upon it's products with each passing year. If they don't especially in the world of phones, they risk losing business.
To think that they hold out on features for the next year should keep you from ever getting a phone. There is no existing phone that will have everything ever needed.

Your too funny 🤣

But they are holding out on features that all other "smart phones" have. My Blackjack 2 has MMS, Video, Voice Dialing, and Copy and Paste.

So it took them 3 Iphones to finally know how to do it?

Now I will say that I like their visual voice messages.

I would guess that your Samsung was "holding out" on features that it's replacement has such as WiFi, a unique pressure-sensitive d-pad, 3-megapixel camera.

Your reasoning doesn't make much sense

Seriously, what do you want Apple to do? Release a phone with a bunch of features that work crappy? If you want that, go to WinMo. There are plenty of phones that do a lot of stuff and do them all poorly.

First off, the iPhone does offer limited multitasking- in fact, all of the native Apple apps multitask. Mail can download in the background while Safari pulls up a web page while your're playing music. Understand? You can be on a phone call and typing an email. The new push notification structure allows for data to be sent to the phone through 3rd party apps in the background. It's not 100% there yet, but Apple has very clear reasons for doing this (system responsiveness, battery life, and stability.)

Second off, Apple updates the ...

Finally an adult emerges underneath a bunch of bickering children arguing about their Palms.

All I'm saying is that yes it is significant and welcomed, but its only because it should have been on the phone 2 years ago. They don't have to offer a lot of innovation because they still have to implement things that older and worse phones already have. Give me all that stuff A2DP and multitasking and I would buy one. My contract is up and I was really hoping for something mind blowing this year.

Mindblowing was the original iphone. It's tough to follow up with equally mindblowing innovations.

Some people just have to complain about everything

Can you open Safari, go to another application, go back to Safari with the page still open that it was on, and then go back to your other application thats still open?

Regular cell phones are starting to have a task manager, so I feel that they should too.

Im sure it will be on next years version: IPHONE 3GSS The other S stands for "sucker".

You obviously don't want an iphone and you will never convince those that do want one to uh...go your way, so what's the point?

Multitasking is overrated to a point anyway. Who can have 5 browser windows open, be talking on the phone, looking up contact info, and setting a date on their calender anyway in a screen that is what...3 inches or...
