Why are this company still operating under "Alltel" Didn't Verizon acquire them? What's taking so long for the rebranding and the adoption of Verizon's plans?

Verizon did buy Alltel, but it wasn't allowed to keep the entire Alltel company. This is because Verizon would become to concentrated with its mergers and take too any choices away from consumers.

For example, in Southern Minnesota, Farmer's Cellular, Cellular One/WW, Midwest Wireless, Rural Cellular/Unicel, and Verizon have technically all combined. That is because Cellular One/WW bought Farmer's Cellular. Alltel bought Cellular One/WW. Altell also bought Midwest Wireless. Now, Verizon bought Alltel. That's 5 choices that...

Thanks algo. I completely forgot about that. You mean to tell me however there was a company called, "Farmers Celluar" though? You gotta kidding me, wow. You learn something new everyday I guess

There is a Farmer's Cellular, but I made a mistake...the company in Southern Minnesota was Hickory Tech. It was a TDMA (IS-96) carrier because I remember traveling through the area back with a Cingular Preferred Nation plan and getting a message with my GAIT phone when it wouldn't allow me to roam for some reason. At the time, Cingular was wonderful and actually called T-Mobile (with me still on as a 3-way call) to have roaming on the T-Mo network in that area forced to work since the roaming with Hickory Tech, their preferred partner for the area, was having issues. Not sure if it was Cingular's network or Hickory Tech's network, but it sure was awesome the way Cingular promptly helped me out (back in 2003 or 2004.)
