And at that point Sprint will have the next generation Pre so it won't matter. The deal between Sprint and Palm is for future Web0S phones too. That's coming from Palm too.

And when everyone has it soon (jan-march 2010...not exactly soon) sprint will have a new exclusive with palm webOS and that came straight from palm's statement. Can't wait to see how many people port to Sprint next weekend!

I ported a family plan over from Verizon to Sprint yesterday! I'm gonna paraphrase here but the conversation went like this.

Me: "how can i help you?"
Cust: " what cell phone service do you use?"
Me: "Sprint"
Cust: "How many dropped calls do you have?"
Me: "Zero."
Cust: "Then why the hell am I paying this much for Verizon?"
Me: "No idea. I'll hook you up with Sprint right now."

I wish all consumers were this smart. It was a breath of fresh air from the usual "Verizon is the best cuz the man on TV says so and they have the EnV, duh... OMG THERE'S AN ENV 2?!? OMG! OMG! OMG! Verizon is the best!!!"

You don’t under stand analogies and you call my post stupid? No one considers 6 months soon. You ask most people and they will tell 6 months is a long time in fact for them it will be half a year. That is a long time to most people!

I disagree. I plan to wait at least 6 mos to buy it so they have time to work out the bugs

people wait months all the time to become eligible for upgrade all the time

I've known people who would wait six months to buy a new phone. I've never heard of anyone waiting six months to urinate.

mmmm why would Palm risk sales so soon if they release a new Pre after 6 months?

Believe it or not, people will stay in their carriers if its only 6 months away to get a Pre in their carriers.

True in the past it has typically been 24 months or so before palm has released a new phone. How ever there is huge demand for pda phones. Customers want more choices. Why would palm release a new phone 6 months after the pre? To introduce different form factors of course. They have to compete with the black jack, the pearl, the iphone, the q and like a million different versions of the htc touch. These days it is more about form factor the os. Don’t get me wrong os is a big part of it but customers also want the right form factor for them.

It would seem to me, the reason why palm hasn't come out with anything new recently is because they've been putting so much time and effort into the new OS. I've got no direct knowledge, but that's my guess.

they are just as good as the pre will be, so if you don't like them do not get the pre.

hopefully Palm doesnt bend them over in the same fashion that Samsung did... Release this hugely hyped flagship phone that does NOTHING, doesnt really even compare to the iPhone, then the moment exclusivity is up to the day they launch the Omnia refitted for every other american carrier, which lets face it, blew the Instinct away even with WinMo... And lets not forget the horrible Glide for Verizon which was a mirror image of the Instinct, but with a keyboard. As a huge Sprint fan/employee/supporter (waning in all categories at the moment) that left such a sour taste in my mouth toward Samsung. If Sprint lets the same crap happen to them with Palm, then I truly will have lost all hope and respect I had left for them as a viable carrier.
