Straight from the horses mouth:

"On to the Q&A: When will there be a GSM version. Palm expects to have one at some point in the future. What about the Verizon deal, asks Walt, noting this morning’s Verizon story this morning. Rubinstein says he can’t comment. We do love Sprint and they are our exclusive launch partner,” Rubinstein said. “It sounds like AT&T and Verizon both want it.. I can’t comment on unannounced relationships.” He notes that BellMo will distribute the Pre in Canada."

As I commented previously, Canada is getting the Pre next, this crap about Verizon and ATT is just that, CRAP!!! 😉...

Verizon's CEO stated that they would have it in six months. How do you take "I can't comment on unannounced relationships" that Verizon is not getting it? If you are a Sprint/CDMA fan I would think you would want Verizon to get it before the GSM carriers do. Let's enjoy this age of cellphones and stop being fanboys.

The Verizon CEO specifically said, "A PRE LIKE DEVICE", he did not say the Pre. Have you ever had someone show up to your house "unannounced?" Meaning you did not know they were coming. Other words, Palm never made that announcement, nothing is in the works.

I tend to agree with you. I do feel in all fairness; that Palm can not comment on such questions before a very important launch. Mr. Rubinstein's answer given does leave the answer to the question open for speculation. However, my bone of contention is that carriers seem to have gotten comfortable of saying things just for the sake of appeasing shareholders and subscribers...

How do you translate "crap" from those comments? He didn't deny either of A&T or Verizon's claims. He said Sprint is the "exclusive launch" partner. Sounds like Palm is trying really hard to not get locked into Sprint for longer than it has to.

How do you translate that Verizon is getting the Pre, if you can't comprehend what he is implying that is your problem. The facts are, there is no negotiation between Palm and Verizon, Verizons CEO never said the Pre is going to Verizon, the Pre is NOT going to Verizon, neither is it going to ATT.

Show me where I said that Verizon is getting the Pre.

All I said is that your link does not deny AT&T or Verizon's claims.

Frankly, I hope Verizon does NOT get the Pre. I would rather see Sprint strengthen its position in the wireless field so that competition becomes more fierce. Consumers benefit in that situation.

However, I would be shocked if a GSM carrier in the US (most likely AT&T) does not have the Pre within a year. It makes too much sense for Palm to NOT do that. Palm is in desperate measures and would not be well served by limiting its options.

That said, I think the Pre would be best served by being married to a Simply Everything plan.

It appears more and more smartphones are slowly being coupled to everything plans or data plans. You just can't buy the device unless you shell out dough for ...
