Yeah if you want to sign up with someone you should do it because the offer the same phones everyone else does........

aren't the little players just going to get bought out until we only have a handful of the big carriers anyways. I guess non-exclusivity makes merging easier.

I don't know. You could argue that non-exclusivity makes merging easier since that means that there is little handset transition needed when mergers happen. Or you could argue that non-exclusivity helps smaller carriers stay alive because their customers won't leave just to get that new model phone that only the big guys have.
