That was really stupid. Maybe if the goverment would watch who they are giving money to, it would be alot better. And stop wasting it on STUPID stuff, like that photo shoot in NYC this past week of Air Force One. Almost $500,000.00 was spent of TAX payers money.

If VZW wants an extension then give it to them along with a penalty. Have them pay a penalty fee for them not meeting the deadline. This is a business and they know this. Charge them a set amount of each month until the deal is done. Why should VZW or any wireless company get any slack. This is a business and that's how the FCC should treat this. Business is business not a grade school playground game.

The FCC needs to man up and show all these carriers who is the boss. 😈

VZW was given a deadline and they should have to honor it. If they need an extension, they should have to pay the penalty just like everyone else.

What about the extension that they gave for the DTV conversion, this deadline was put in place 2 years earlier and still required an extension. I think that since they gave the extension the FCC should mandate that the converter boxes now cannot be sold for less than 250.00 and the extra 200.00 should go directly to the FCC, basically a penalty yo those who cold not meet a deadline that was set 2 years ago.

OK something happened to you that you are this dispiteful. Verizon do you wrong that you want to see this? Great this is a business and we all now this. So if you are late on your house payment, would you like to see the bank help you out. Hey to you this might be personal but EVERYTHING is business. At least Verizon is asking for the extension before the deadline has passed (what most people do with there own personal business). Grow up and understand situations.

First, I have nothing against Verizon. And second I don't see the relevance in bringing in an example of my house payment or a house payment. We are talking about a business situation. In most cases if a company fails to deliver on a promise and needs an extension; a late fee, charge back or penalty usually follows. It's common practice in business. Yes every business tries to talk their way into not getting hit with one but at the end, most companies know they will incur one.

If we were talking about John Doe and how his house will be taken over then I'm all for the bank helping him out so he keeps his house.

Because everyone is afraid to buy or place a good bid? Verizon is the best cell phone network in the US who pays workers the best and gives the best. You act like they keep all this money in a vault. They put all money towards good use... Network, 3G, 4G, workers, and to good causes..Hope Line.

sure they pay their employees great but they shouldn't have agreed to the terms if they couldn't stick to the terms. Law 101 says don't agree to a contract you can't honor... even a Verizon fanboy should know that

Hmmm, considering the current economy have any of you thought that maybe the companies looking to buy the divested markets are having issues raising capital? Verizon agreed to this before the economy was at its current state. Sure the economy was bad but nowhere near as bad as it is now. Verizon has buyers lined up but the process is not going as fast as projected, guess many of you are clueless to business and the effect of the economy on smaller and higher risk companies trying to buy in a time when most banks aren't loaning money.

I don't think Verizon is entitled to this position anymore than its customers are. I don't see Verizon all of a sudden saying "due to economic conditions, we ...

And how many people in the US have an LCD or Plasma? In my situation I can name numerous friends and family that are perfectly happy with their old TV.

The Networks and gov't pushed it back because the sales of LCD HD TV's were not in most poeple's homes.

To my understanding it was the people who DON'T pay for cable who get affected. They are too cheap to even buy the converter box.People who pay for cable already get digital cable. It's the box you use, not the T.V. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Verizon has more money than what they know what to do with already and a penalty for the extension would not hurt them. Enough money already goes into the pockets of the big managers over there. As our illustrious leader so puts it, "Spread the wealth"

Verizon is still in debt. Even before they purchase Alltel. They don't make enough in revenue a year to pay it off. God!! stop making Verizon and others that they have no debt.

The truth is verizon had a large amount of debt even before they purchased alltel, lets see how long they can run with borrowing funds, maybe they will get to the point where the banks/investors say enough is enough, then what happens?.... start selling largest carrier in the US.

Control your debt or you will end up on the streets..

This has nothing to do with verizon's debt!! They just need a buyer and they have not found one yet for all the alltel/verizon divested markets that is the problem !! You act as if verizon is asking for a bailout which is far from what is going on !! Verizon will have no problems !! They keep getting sprint's customers lol and when they get there true iphone or something better than the iphone they will get all the people who left verizon for att back!! It's funny to see how a overpriced piece of plastic can attract people the iphone stinks as you can't multitask which is why i say vzw will make something much better in the near future !!

In the article there is no mention of Verizon cannot find a buyer. In fact according to the links, it says they received bids for the divested areas. To quote Verizon on this articel: "the sheer size and complexity of the divestitures coupled with the current economic conditions" that is not a message in terms of lack of buyers but they cannot process the requests fast enough.

Second, what does the iPhone have to do with this article? It's irrelevant to this topic. If you want to go that route, not defending AT&T but VZW had their chance. They said no to the deal and AT&T benefited. And the Sprint losses, sorry but its on the iDen side. I think Sprint has a plan for iDEN. There is a reason they are not investing any new devices for Ne...

Yea I went off topic at the end but it is because most of the people that are blasting vzw is because they owe them a bill!! Which whatever !! Every network has it's own up's and down's!! The reason the have not made any new plans for phones for nextel is because they simply can't afford it!! How could you say vzw benefited for turning down the iphone ?? I myself don't like the phone but there has been quite a few people that left for the iphone!! Any many say that if vzw would get the iphone they would leave att !! Give me a break get your head out of the air and pay attention to all that is going on!! VZW is simply the biggest now because they bought out alltel otherwise they would still be no 2 to att ! First that is pure speculation on your part about why people are bashing VZW. Second, read before you reply. I did not say VZW benefited, I said AT&T benefited from getting the iPhone. VZW had their chance but did not want to give in to Apple's offer.

What is this obsession with the iPhone? If people left for AT&T, then so be it. There are plenty of other subscribers out there. And get my head out of the cloud? You really need to grow up. Everyone is entitled to their opinion like you are. You are bashing AT&T or whatever carrier but no one is allowed to bash VZW? Again grow up.
