It's long been known that once AT&Ts exclusive is up, that Apple would be shopping around to other interested carriers.

I would assume Verizon has learned it's lesson for letting the iphone go in the first place.

The New York Times doesn't run rumors. They must have confirmed this info with at least one other source, or they have at least verified that their primary source is someone in a position to know.

Seeing I work for Verizon and it's been known as a rumor they must have heard it from an unreliable source....

What does "known as a rumor" mean? 😕

Before the iPhone was announced for AT&T, there were no more than five (as in 5) employees in all of AT&T that had even seen a drawing of it, all of them top executives. Only those five and the board knew the device or deal even existed before Apple announced it.

Therefore, with all due respect, unless you're Ivan Seidenberg, Dennis Strigl, Dick Lynch or Lowell McAdam, working for Verizon doesn't qualify you to say whether or not such a product has actually been discussed. Companies do keep secrets from their own employees, especially Apple and any company working with Apple.
