They would have to join the Open Phone Alliance (or "Open Source Alliance" I can't remeber which it is 😕 ). And AT&T probably won't do that because of Apple andthe iPhone.

I'm sure the iPhone has something to do with it, but its not the total reason, they are a member of the Symbian Group or whatever its called, and I'm sure if they feel the need or want can and will join the Open Hand Set Alliance.

Do they really have to join? I thought the whole point was for it to be open source, so if some manufacturer came to them with an Android phone, they could launch it. Right?

I think a carrier has to be a member of the Open handset alliance to carry a google phone.
