the joy of using gsm is you can change networks back and forth with the use of sim cards and compatible globally. a great advantage compared to cdma which totally locks you on the network...

now that t-mobile is planning to put it inside their devices, will they be no different than the cdma counterpart?

i hope they're not trying to phase out sim slot. it's very small to bother them so i think they should just leave sim and its slot alone....

From front page:
The technology is not meant for consumers , but represents a new front for embedded, intelligent wireless devices.

For example, the t-mobile cameo could have a built in sim card that is smaller. Since it is GSM it will run off of a sim card but since it is a picture frame you wouldnt be switching out the sim card to other devices.

There are rumors that they are planing a tablet PC running android so this would be perfect for that. Or offering phones with their @home service with the SIM built in.

@home phones with sim cards? Where did you hear this? They have the router and adapter already, i dont see the use of having a phone unless it has a bunch of features built into it like the verizon hub.

The at home router has a slot for 2 sim cards for people who want 2 home phone lines. You would use your regular home phones with their router. The system is voip but works like another cell line. You can even take the sim out and put it in your cell phone. What makes this better than Verizon in the cost, $10 a month and unlimited calling to all US and Canada numbers and all phone features included at no extra cost.Verizon, with their new hub is trying to slow down their customers migration away from home phones by adding more toys to play with.

Thank you for not answering any question and just stating random facts. I work for t-moble so know all about the @home router, but you can't put that sim in a cell phone or you will be charged 40C per minute (or around there). If you read my original post again it was simply asking where this information was heard and if they are applying it to a device like the verizn hub.

Rumor is that T-mobile is planing on doing something similar to the verizon hub, but with a detachable tablet running Android. So a tiny built in SIM would be perfect for that.
