I say fire them all and outsource the jobs to India! Has any one ever tried to talk to these union guys on the phone “I don’t know that is not my job.” Or “you will have to leave a voice mail for the person who handles it.” If it is not there job those union reps are worthless.

Yes, because outsourcing to India has not led to any problems witih customer complaints, reports of poor service and image problems for an American-based company.

You are not in a position where you make decisions and influence the actions of others on a daily basis, are you?

I am actually work for one of the largest customers of ATT. The company I work for has thousands of data lines through ATT. And I deal with those worthless CDW workers every day. Every person in my department hates them and thinks they are worthless. Because they are union they cost us money every day by missed dead lines. In fact this is one of the reasons we are migrating thousands of our lines to smaller regional carriers. And by the way when I say thousands I literally mean thousands. Every thing from OC192 all the way to T1.

Who am I? I am head of a group that actually is composed of both workers in the US as well as India. And I would take an Indian worker over the CDW worker any day.

Actually, when I worked for an outsourced contractor for AT&T, it seemed like the unionized call centers always had the good quality metrics (and were much more pleasant to deal with on a transfer).

But oh well. Logic isn't called for at times like this. We need rash, ill-conceived action that make us feel like a big man (because it's cheaper than viagra, I guess). Moving everything to India. Yeah. That's the ticket for quality, and it won't have any OTHER ill side-effects.

Spectacularly well said. 😁

I'm reminded of the faux-worker info video Montgomery Burns plays for the Springfield Nuclear plant workers:

"The best kind of sourcing: Out Sourcing!"
