That now us salespeople will have to be computer techies too. Or look like jackasses when we say "we only service the aircard portion of the device."

Any you should be a techie to or I say you arent doing your job as good as you can ! There has been many times I have even helped people with another carriers phone because no one knew what to do to fix their problem in general!! GO the extra mile and see what happens they will send you sells trust me !! Don't shun the idea of helping someone out because you don't make money !! That is exactly why you get paid hourly and also why verizon has techs !! And they will service the whole device there is signs up that say we are not responsible for data loss or damage to your device !! In otherwords they will be able to service the netbooks because they could give the customer another one if such a horrible thing happened !!

I already do go the extra mile for my customers (setting up email for their blackberries, showing them how to leave a copy of their messages on the server for winmo, activating their aircards, etc). But this ramps it up even more. I've had the occasional computer that has had multiple hardware and software problems that I have had to decline servicing, and I am not looking forward to the first customer that got viruses on their computer and wants me to restore it.

I'm an indirect at a smaller store. I'm the greeter, salesperson, techie, you name it. And activating aircards is NOT my job, our ISAM tells us not to do it (liability issues), but we do anyway, otherwise what sets us apart from Walmart?

I wish it were the job of the salesman to set up PDAs. I've done my share of setup for people who bought from corporate, online, or kiosks without any setup.

Of course, the argument might be settled if VZW decides not to give indirects access to netbook sales.

As for going the extra mile, I've brought in my studio recording gear and computer to record voicemail messages for customers who have had relatives that passed away. No extra pay, and I can't bring myself to charge for something like that. Ju...

1: I am a techie and I am quite competent in the "my computer is full of viruses what do I do" department

2: I hope they are acer Aspire ONE's. Those are nice designs.

3: I hope we Indirect agents don't get raped on the price of these. They are expensive.

4: I hope people understand that Netbooks are NOT a replacement for a full size laptop, but are designed as a portable go-anywhere Internet-capable easy-to-carry secondary computer.

5: I reeeealy hope Asurion will insure these. If they Insure Blackberry Storms, which cost hundreds more than a Netbook, they better Insure these.
