My Biggest Bitch with this.

Be it VZW, AT&T no matter, my biggest bitch is you're stuck in a two year contract with the same netbook, sure they're nice for what they are. But for two years? Data cards/usb's are either free or cheap on contract.

I think one would be much better off to pick the carrier of your choice, get a card or usb device and just use it on what you want. Too much can go wrong, and what do you do then? Spend full rate on a new data device, or pay an ETF fee.

Buy the netbook outright then. You can get one for sub 400 anyway. Then just get a card. No one is forcing you to sign a contract to get the device. The only time that happens anymore are for certain high demand devices to try and keep aftermarket sales (ebay) to a minimum until there is not a shortage issue in main channels.

The reason verizon is considering it is because customers want cheap stuff, and the typical consumer doesn't care about how much something costs, they just want to know about the minimum payment. Yes, that is a problem, but you can't blaim a company for looking for a way to capitalize on it.

Buy things at retail, and avoid contracts. It's really that simple.

Exactly. The Aspire one can be had for $349.99 with no card and Radio Shack and Cingular were selling it for $99.99 with a $59.99 data plan contract for two years. Now...if one is going to buy a data card anyway then it makes sense to get the $250 discount. Otherwise it is a waste of money $1440 over two year term.
