Cheaper to pay ETF?

Isn't it just cheaper to purchase the phone w/ a new 2yr agreement, then pay the ETF after the trial period is over?

Also, this is just going to cause a headache for them. How can they justify that a 2yr agreement is worth a $400 subsidy?

Because the average iPhone user spends alot more $$ than non-iPhone users. At minimum they spend $1680 over a two year agreement.

And that's about how much the company subsidizes for the phone every time someone buys it for the 2 or 3 hundred dollar price. those phones are NOT cheap (in price anyway).

Lsst November I bought a new BB Bold, I was thinking of buying it for full price, and not extending my contract. It was cheaper if so wish to quit and pay the term rate of $175 then to just buy it outright. Also throw into the deal, they take off $5.00 per month. I can't understand why anyone would pay the full cost of the iphone when the subsidy is a far better deal. Even if one had to throw down a few hundred if needed to get it on contract because you don't pass their credit checks.

I don't know that after a period of time or not, if AT$T will return this retainer if one maintains their account.

because people are stupid and have to act all indignant that they have to "sign a contract" like it's again their principles or something. Even though in *most* cases they'll be way ahead if they buy it for the discounted price and break their contract if they have to.

the only benefit of being able to buy it without re-upping your contract is so you can get it before your upgrade eligibility is up...? Otherwise, without a prepaid option is pointless to not get the discounted price.
