Good news/bad news?

I thought Ericsson made decent phones when they were running on their won. I wonder if they'll be selling their patents when Sony purchases their 50%.

I think Sony should stay out of the phone business, they never seem to get it right. I remember several years ago they dropped out of the home phone business, cordless and corded, because of poor quality. Their cell phones have only been fair while Ericsson's were pretty good before the partnership..

I had a R300z, and it was a PoS.
The 'snap' connector for the power was shoddy and broke apart. I haven't gone back to Ericsson (or S/E) since.

You're joking right? I sold Ericsson for SunCom/ATTWS and I wasn't impressed at all. Maybe they got better when cingular took over or maybe it was just SunCom's network (very likely).

I think this is good news. Ericsson and Sony should never had a partnership to begin with. Ericsson was making excellent products while anything that Sony made was and is a total garbage from cell phones and regular cordless phones to cameras to PDA's to laptops to audio/video to TV's.
