I'm sure if you enjoy getting your calls dropped left and right, Cingular would seem better than Verizon... "Soft hand-off," gotta love it. 😈

But I'm sure they do more than they should, or else you would have said something about voice quality and quality of service. It's funny, whenever I ask a Cingular (especially ex-ATT'ers) about their service, the typical response I get is "It's ok...," Verizon customers will usually say "Awesome, been with them for 6 years!" or "GREAT!" If you're gonna be paying for service, especially wireless, you should be very satisfied with their quality of service, which is why Verizon has the lowest "churn-rate" (e.g. customers that cancel and/or port numbers to another company"

I wouldnt be paying for a service that had bad voice quality and offered bad service, I would move on to something better. Ive been with Verizon, T-Mobile, Nextel, and now Cingular. So far, Cingular is working out the best all around. I guess some people like yourself cant face the fact that Cingular actually does work for some people.

So, Yeah! I love Cingular!! Love my service!! been with them 6 months and its been great so far! Happy?? LOL 🤣

I've been with Cingular for almost 3 years now, and I have been with Verizon in the past.

I would never switch back. I enjoy the versatility of GSM, as well as the voice quality over CDMA. I live in Florida, and Cingular is better than Verizon in my area hands down.

I like to keep a couple of extra GSM phones charged up during hurricane season. I was without electricity for a total of almost 5 weeks between 3 hurricanes last year, and it was nice to have a phone on backup. You didn't want to use anything hooked up to the car because you didn't know how long it would be before gasoline would be pumpable again (as it required electricity). My Cingular phones worked the whole time, while my Verizon landline was down extensively, an...

One thing that is rarely discussed is that this whole mess is caused by one of the advantages of the CDMA path. CDMA allows for carriers to upgrade as they can afford to without having large sections of their footprint unavailable to some of their customers. The GSM switch made some parts of Cingular's and ATTWS footprint unavailable to some of their customers because GSM is not backward compatible.

This seems to be a problem, but by the looks of it, the frustration behind finding a solution is keeping the networks backwards compatible.

I suggested a few posts back that they should convert all 32-bit ESNs to include a 24-bit null header and have all the information verify the same.
