So Metro PCS who doesn't build their own network is going to build their own network?

MetroPCS prior to the roaming agreement with Leap, has always been just that, its own network, builtfrom the ground up. now they share service areas with cricket, but continue to build "their" network

What do you mean that they don't build out their own network? They're not an MVNO. They have their own network, since they have AWS & PCS licenses, plus a 700 band license for the Boston market. So they do in fact build out their own network, and not buy airtime from one of the 4 big name carriers. MetroPCS just launched service in New York City, while Cricket (Denali) has service in Chicago.

Hmm, I wonder if MetroPCS will include Las Vegas among they're initial launch cities for LTE.

yea, and I tried their network here in NYC and they're crap so I stayed with boost instead. I don't see MetroPCS doing any good in NY.

It'll be anyone's guess as to when Cricket will launch LTE. Cricket (actually Denali Spectrum, Cricket affiliate) just launched service in Chicago, and I'm waiting to find out how their network is. While I'm not looking to leave Verizon Wireless, I'm just looking at Cricket for wireless internet, as it's cheaper. I just won't rush into getting it until I know how reliable they are. I however expect Cricket to have network issues, as they only hold 10mhz AWS for Chicago, as it's just a regional license.

Metro PCS's network, at least here in the SF Bay Area, is built by Lucent Technologies so they do not own it.

uh, yes its built by Lucent..but OWNED by Metro. No carrier actually "builds" their network. Metro and Cricket are both tier 1 carriers with their own networks.

That's not true. Initially, most major carriers built their networks. Then the era of MVNO's and consolidations began, changing the situation...

But Metro Pcs is not a MVNO. They own their own network. They may have sub contracted a company to build their network. But its all own by Metro Pcs. Excluding the recent roaming agreements with Leap Wireless aka Cricket!!
