How come whenever you hear a story about phones being recalled for not being able to maintain 911 calls, 911 is the ONLY number it has issues with. What the hell causes this?

I dont have a sure answer for you but it helps to know that 911 is not a regualr number. What I mean is, you can call 911 from a phone that has no service and possibly never had service.

Due to these facts, we can assume 911 operates differently then LandLine or even Cellphone numbers. In this reguard, its possible for a problem to ONLY effect 911 calls just as it can be possible for a phone to effect all calls EXCEPT 911 calls. They operate differently and thus are effected by different things.

What causes it can be related to whats different about it.

It may have something to do with the GPS functionality in the device, as well, as that's used for 911 calls.
