Why don't they just give up and die?

Has it not dawned on them they're unable to produce anything close to a decent or competitive mobile platform?

Between iPhone, Android, and Palm's upcoming Pre, (and to a lesser extent, the few remaining Blackberries that aren't total garbage) , WinMo is a relic.

I don't care what facade HTC tacks on- that's adding another layer of glitchiness (that frankly is only useful in trying to convince your iPhone owning friends WinMo isn't 10 years out of date.) to a crap foundation.

I'll sum it up like this: every WinMo phone is trash. period. Yes, including the HTC Touch Pro and Diamond. If you think otherwise, you haven't used the far-superior competition.

Your opinion on how bad WinMo is, does not represent the majority. There is a reason why WinMo phones sell very well. There may be better operating systems for phones, but that doesnt mean that WinMo sucks.

WinMo sells very well? Do tell! The majority of smart phone buyers aren't WinMo users, even in the United States. The limitations of WinMo is why there was so much pent up demand for something better.

Yes but windows on the PC has little to do with windows mobile. WinMo has less chance of delivering "everything your PC can do" then it's competition.

I must disagree. I think with the upcoming transition into the new path of this type of application, WinMo will indeed be more formidable than one may think. I can already meet the demands of business and casual access easily from my WinMo 6.1 HTC. WinMo 7 is promising to be "Less annoying" and more of a "PC like" operation. I don't think WinMo gets the respect because of what normal users use their phones for. Business people on the other hand are very dependent on WinMo devices for heavy applications. I still think more people will adapt ...

Editing/viewing Word/Excel documents on a mobile phone is nothing new. iPhone/G1 users can do all of that with the right software- in fact, the iPhone's attachment viewer is far more accurate AND versatile than WinMo's. That's saying something. Word/Excel mobile are neutered versions of the desktop software that still lack advanced features about 50% of Word/Excel documents use.

Nobody is going to ditch their laptop for a WinMo device. WinMo lacks the power of Android/iPhone- all it has in common with Windows (desktop) is a start menu... something horribly out of place on a mobile device. And a registry. Because a mobile phone should totally have a registry.

The average user does not want to be REQUIRED to spend hours dicking around wi...

I guess to really give you a better understanding of the importance of window mobile. Do you think if the iphone was such a good phone, woult it be for sale at $99.00 from Bestbuy to Walmart, even ATT Ref? Think about it...

The advantage of window mobile OS is that, it could be customize to each manufacturer with a different user interface. A good Example is the Sum Omnia and HTC Diamant. Two different user interface using window mobile, the good thing about the iphone is the Safari browser and the UI on picture, wich I appreciate and respect the iphone for. Please next time be open minded, window has been around for a long time and would even get better in the coming years. Window is not going anywhere, I am not so sure about the iphone ...

The user interface of Windows Mobile is not "customizable." HTC and other manufacturers try to slap on a "launcher" to mask the UI's glaring deficiencies. This doesn't change a thing about the underlying OS. Individual applications still have the same crappy Windows Mobile UI, as does the rest of the operating system.

As for the price of the iPhone, they've sold 10+million of them. That's why.

🙂 Not windows not customizable. hmm maybe you should see my Diamond. Doenst resemble WinMo except for start programs. I could even make the UI look like an Iphone... if I wanted 😁. But NOPE! not my Diamond! And a registry in Win Mo PWNS Its allowed me to edit so much. I even have a better battery life and custom settings. ( ie. custom UI colors) I love my Diamond, so its okay if y'al keep the Iphones and G1s.

You can make the UI look like an iPhone, not work like one. You would have to know the difference.

You can spruce up a turd with slick animations and mask parts of the way the UI operates, but the overall way the OS operates still shows through at the basic level, such as when using 3rd party applications or synchronizing the device.

I sold out of the WING everytime I had it in stock. I dont carry it anymore but the DASH continues to be a phone on my back-order. I have 0 DASH's right now but had 12 on Sunday.

Its all about a comfort zone.
Allow me to explain in small detail. My customers dont really know how to say it because they have never needed to say it. However, when I ask them why they would want a DASH over say.....a Curve (I can almost put these 2 phones in the same price range), the response is pretty much the same...in so many words....: Comfort. Sure, the Curve might be "better & faster" but you know what? What good is all that speed if I cant navigate around it? Its fast but I cant find anything Im looking for in a timely manner. Yet, with the DASH, it ...
