Microsoft Confirms 2010 Timing for Windows Mobile 7
Why don't they just give up and die?
Between iPhone, Android, and Palm's upcoming Pre, (and to a lesser extent, the few remaining Blackberries that aren't total garbage) , WinMo is a relic.
I don't care what facade HTC tacks on- that's adding another layer of glitchiness (that frankly is only useful in trying to convince your iPhone owning friends WinMo isn't 10 years out of date.) to a crap foundation.
I'll sum it up like this: every WinMo phone is trash. period. Yes, including the HTC Touch Pro and Diamond. If you think otherwise, you haven't used the far-superior competition.
the phones arent trash becasue htc makes a very solid product, but their choice in winmo is a downfall.

Has it not dawned on them they're unable to produce anything close to a decent or competitive mobile platform?

Yes but windows on the PC has little to do with windows mobile. WinMo has less chance of delivering "everything your PC can do" then it's competition.
I must disagree. I think with the upcoming transition into the new path of this type of application, WinMo will indeed be more formidable than one may think. I can already meet the demands of business and casual access easily from my WinMo 6.1 HTC. WinMo 7 is promising to be "Less annoying" and more of a "PC like" operation. I don't think WinMo gets the respect because of what normal users use their phones for. Business people on the other hand are very dependent on WinMo devices for heavy applications. I still think more people will adapt ...

Nobody is going to ditch their laptop for a WinMo device. WinMo lacks the power of Android/iPhone- all it has in common with Windows (desktop) is a start menu... something horribly out of place on a mobile device. And a registry. Because a mobile phone should totally have a registry.
The average user does not want to be REQUIRED to spend hours dicking around wi...

The advantage of window mobile OS is that, it could be customize to each manufacturer with a different user interface. A good Example is the Sum Omnia and HTC Diamant. Two different user interface using window mobile, the good thing about the iphone is the Safari browser and the UI on picture, wich I appreciate and respect the iphone for. Please next time be open minded, window has been around for a long time and would even get better in the coming years. Window is not going anywhere, I am not so sure about the iphone ...

As for the price of the iPhone, they've sold 10+million of them. That's why.
Its all about a comfort zone.
Allow me to explain in small detail. My customers dont really know how to say it because they have never needed to say it. However, when I ask them why they would want a DASH over say.....a Curve (I can almost put these 2 phones in the same price range), the response is pretty much the same...in so many words....: Comfort. Sure, the Curve might be "better & faster" but you know what? What good is all that speed if I cant navigate around it? Its fast but I cant find anything Im looking for in a timely manner. Yet, with the DASH, it ...
