You'd recommend this piece of crap, which has serious reception issues and connectivity issues, is slow as a dog, can't make it through a half-day, and a worthless camera. Does anyone anymore have the balls to stand up and say "Gee, this is yet another crappy Android handset?"

Sure it's better than an LG Ally, but what isn't? That's like saying it is better than a PCD Quickfire or Motorola Q.

This is just a big bucket of fail. At least I agree with you on the aesthetics of this. Then again, you also whined about the aesthetics of the iPhone 4. A VCR is right twice a day.

It is not "slow as a dog," though my dog outruns me on a bad day. Compared to a small selection of fast Android phones on the market, the Droid 2 is slower, but it's faster than 90% of the smartphones you can buy.

Are you worried about bias in Android phone reviews? Fair enough. Android is a very good platform on which to build a phone, so it's easier for manufacturers to earn (and I do mean EARN) a good review without too much interference on their part. But I have seen bad Android phones. The Samsung Behold II, for instance, or the Motorola Devour. These were not good Android phones.

What isn't better than an LG Ally? Well, an LG Fathom, for one. I'd take an Ally over a BlackBerry Curve, too, maybe even a Bold.

Compared to any phone in its price range it's significantly slower (sans anything RIM makes these days and anything plagued with WinMo.) .

Bias isn't the right word. I'm not concerned about bias. But as happened with WinMo phones, the phones got judged by their peers more than on their own merits. Saying it's a good phone by the standards of a Motorola Devour is like saying the Motorola Q was good by the standards of an HTC Apache.

So let's be honest, you've got the Droid 2, a phone that can't pull in half the battery life of the quicker iPhone 4 or feels-quicker Nexus One, has a terrible camera compared to both, is slower than either, and is plagued with serious reception issues and a layer of crapware. That may not be as bad as t...

Yeah, I can see your point, the droid 2 does have a very serious reception issue. one which is probably firmware related anyway. Wouldn't want motorola to have a full blown case of "We screwed up" like apple, they got an A+ on the iPhone 4!

so wait..it's firmware related for the droid 2, yet the iphone 4 is a design flaw. maybe the droid 2 has a defected antenna, and their ad about talking trash to apple about not needing a case to have the phone perform better, yet the droid 2 has issues with reception just sitting by it's self.

yes, you're entirely right, there is no way the droid 2 could NOT have a defective antenna band that has signal attenuation when held a certain way, there's just not any way that motorola could get signal right, even though they've been making cell phones longer than everyone else (Fun Fact: Motorola produced the first cell phone back in the 1973, 44 years before Apple released the first iPhone! 😁)
