Really, can someone give me a description of who is so poor that needs a phone? Are we giving these phones to homeless people who have no one to call yet they should be provided with warm shelters instead of phones, or are we providing these phones to Shameka @ the urban projects so she can call her sista and continue to milk the welfare system. like really? Somehow i woudn't care if it wasn't that you cant buy a phone plan under 50 bucks yet i have a feeling that all those free phones are being paid with working peoples shoulders who pay their bill, and need a phone. liberal massachussets at its best.

Bwalk21 he may be upset by the fact that every month we pay a service charge and all we get in return is this lousy tracphone plan that a person will use all the minutes up in 1 day! Great idea now sista (Non racial word) can really chat it up for one day and take the money that she doesn't have (she had to be low income to get this plan) and reup for more minutes on that awsome tracphone sorry timmy no milk for you today i spent it all on minutes. By the way if you are going to qualify sista as a racist term then you my friend are a racist!

IT'S TOTALLY MY BUSINESS IF I'M PAYING FOR IT!

Did you read that this program is funded by "collections of the Universal Service Charge billed to cell phone users."

Great, now with Barak Obama we are even socializing cell phones! 👿

Don't blame me, I supported Ron Paul.

The irony is that Tracfone was one of the companies against the universal service charge... or rather, they felt that only post-pay customers should pay it, not their customers.

Guess they found a way to make it work for them.

and the universal service charge has been around a lot longer than obama (and it has provided cellphones for longer)

I agree that this shouldn't be funded with taxpayer money.

That said, I wouldn't

... so homeless people should also be GIVEN houses to live in so they can have an address to put on their applications- they should have satellite TV so they can see commercials for local businesses that are hiring, they should be given BMW's so they look professional!

where does it end? they aren't working they aren't paying taxes they have facilities that will take them in find them jobs and let them create a life worth living- they shouldn't be given special treatment because life got hard. Life's hard on everyone but the key is everyone doesn't give up just homeless.
