Law Enforcement Wants Right to Use Cell-Jamming Tech
Issues with this idea
Perhaps if states/cities were held financially liable if 911 calls don't get through due to police jamming, it would promote some responsibility.

1) If it's complex, the criminals will find a way to use it to their advantage.
2) The most corrupt area of business is the U.S. Government. They have been trying to pass a bill for years on eaves dropping on phone calls. This is a back door entry for that. They will, without fail, abuse this power and no one will be able...

Actually its exactly what will happen, there is no reason from the to use this technology, and it will be abused.
Even in a high profile area of the US, what is this going to do? If a bomb is set off, its too late already. What this will end up being used for is crowd or information control. Everything from riots to ...

That said, I do think that the Federal law should be loosened. I think there are specific situations where non-Federal agencies should be allowed to use cell phone jammers, the most obvious being prisons.
I do not agree with the desire to allow police to use them at their own discretion, however, nor do I think that the use of portable devices should be legal (except as is already the case).
There have been to many instances of shoot first ask questions later, just look what happened when cops were given tasers. 😕
