It works for both new customers and existing. The amount you can put in installments vary depending on credit class ($500, $400, $120, $100).

it was an upgrade paid 80 plus 20 upgrade fee plus tax so about 100 total add to my bill which was around 202 the rest of the 100 is spilt to 33 33 34 add to my bill for each month

If you paid an upgrade fee, you got robbed. T-Mobile Corporate stopped doing those back in December. 😲
