It's a cool idea but...

...I think that this maybe an accident waiting to happen. It should only be offered secretly to already existing customers that have proven themselves. If they don't have the money to front for the phone, what will happen down the road? I just feel that this is toying with a can opener in a worm hunt.

IT was. They have had this for a while with existing customers on upgrades. I qualified back in November for an htc shadow but will not get it until March. But hey! Now the new shadow is out! YAY!

They actually prequalify the customers beforehand. The credit limit starts at $100 and goes up to $500. Therefore, if someone were a new or existing customer with not so hot credit and less than perfect tenure, they might not qualify for the program. Either way, they are usually small payments that go onto the customer's bill, so if the customer decides not to pay it, they are only hurting themselves.
