Divestiture in the making?

It seems like Sprint is starting to separate the iDEN and CDMA networks more and more. Maybe it's getting ready to divest the iDEN network to government agencies?

Doubtful. When Sprint bought Nextel they were hoping to move all the Nextel customers to iDEN. But they did 2 things wrong.

1. They underestimated how loyal people are to Nextel and they screwed that up with there normal botched customer service. Which cause a mass exodus of customers from Nextel.

And 2 they were hoping to sell off the Nextel equipment. But because the only other company in the US (SouthernLinc) that uses iDEN doesn't want to expand out side of there home territory.

So Sprint bit the bullet and they are now going to dump more money into the Nextel Division to bring it back to where it belongs.

Personally I hope the spin it off to it's own Company again.

Not really. It isn't unheard of when a company buys an other company and later down the road they spin the company they bought back to it's own company.

Seriously, I hope SprintPCS spins Nextel back off into it's own company again.

Which would be a divestiture. Whether a sale or spinoff, it would be a divestiture. Remember what happened to AT&T in 1984?

Sorry, I haven't been thinking straight. My doctor has me on some serious pain meds. Making me a bit loopy. 🤭 With that said. I hope they do it. 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭

This is my thought as well. Sprint realizes the mistake in the merge and they need to dump the Albatross around their neck. It's not that Nextel is bad at all. It's just that it was a bad move all the way around to merge.
