Some say it's to protect females from getting pics taken of them by perverts...what horseshit! Put a finger or thumb over the speaker and there wont be a hearable click. Besides whats the average megapixel of cameraphones? 1.3? Can't take a decent picture with that and if you could the female would have to be in sunlight or bright ass lights standing still and showing her cooter anyways to get a good picture of it.
I like the spin on this...say a criminal hears the click of the cameraphone and now kills the innocent bystander who was just taking a pic to help police catch the dip.
