Sprint Asks Obama to Set Up $2 Billion First-Responder Network
Replying to: What people are forgetting.... by Mektah
1.) The government more or less has already decided to use this technology for it's emergency response. Many of you seem to forget that Sprint is already being forced to evacuate (Iden ) spectrum that interfers with current government emergency response systems...
Only the spectrum that interferes with emergency frequencies is part of the forced vacate. Sprint in turn, receives spectrum in exchange. A crude illustration would be:
- BEFORE TRANSITION:
Sprint spectrum currently: 800-825 mhz, 850-900 mhz
Government spectrum currently: 825-850 mhz
- AFTER TRANSITION:
Sprint: 825-900 mhz (unbroken)
Government: 800-825 mhz
These are not the exact frequencies, but it gives you a rough idea.
