Even if they were to pass a law like this people wouldnt follow it. How about they do to a test to see how many accidents are caused by women putting on makeup, or looking down to change the radio. Im sure those cause just as many accidents a year.

That "people won't follow this law" stuff, very, very funny!

Heck, how I feel is supposedly lawmakers are suppose to represent the people, and if I feel a certain law doesn't represent me, then I simply don't follow it, jaywalking is a perfect example, I am plenty capable of looking both ways and if no cars are coming, be on my way!!!

If I were to summarize the position of most people here it is "Why pick on only one distraction and that one being a vast minority among potential distractions?"

The reason is that there are a lot of technophobes out there with money and an axe to grind about wireless phones. You know, those people who complain about people who talk on their phones in any public place. Some of these people are against anything that annoys them and will do what it takes to pass legislation to support their point of view.

The reason it's got so much attention is because of it's rapid growth in society

That's easy. If you don't follow the law then you get a ticket. I bet after so many you'll start paying attention when using your phone..huh?
