Motorola's Handset Arm Prepping for Massive Layoffs
Replying to: R.I.P. Motorola Q by htrony
Much more than the Q
Then again, Moto skated by a long time on stale design language, resting it's laurels on the RAZR far more than just about anyone thought was prudent. By anyone's account, they've done their part to earn this result, but it's still very sad to see so many people's job's slashed.
I thought it odd that the handset business was the focus of the cuts, but then it makes sense given that the other areas don't require nearly as much marketing & carrier negotiation/development to be successful/profitable, and could be considered reliable staples for a tech business.
