One of the stupidest & most incompetent ideas I have ever heard out of law enforcement and we all know how stupid cops can be. How in the hell would a stupid a55 idea like this would of helped anybody on 9/11? That was our nations worst terrorist attack that required no use of a cell phone by those damn terrorist. The only thing this pea-brained idea would do is create mass hysteria when someone you know and love is in an area that was just attacked and you have no way to call them. Man maybe the dumba55 officers that were sitting on their a55es thinking of this should be out trying to police their filthy crime infested city. IDIOTS!!!

Well if you read the article this is in response to what happen in Dubai. The terrorists were using cellphones to communicate with each other and with an outside source. This has nothing to do with a situation like 9/11. And please tell me how stupid I am. So far in the 10+ years I have been NYC Police Officer I have helped deliver 5 babies, been stabbed twice(once while trying to protect a wife from her crazy and abusive husband) and a lot more. So tell me what have you done, except run your mouth. Walk a day in our shoes before you condemn Police Officers.
Because oneday I might have to save your life!

I agree with you bud. You do what you need to do when your in the situation. Screw what the average citizen thinks when its an attempt to save many more.

31coopert,

You have to remember that a lot of people are ignorant to the fact of how busy police officers truly are, and if they knew as much as they did they would probably be paranoid to step outside their houses. I really wouldn't give any mind to Chrome due to the fact that his statement makes no sense.

Like the old saying goes, I'm just an indian in a world full. Of chiefs. If this program ever takes off and I have absolutely no idea when I believe it will be for situations like the one in dubai. As perthe article the terrorists were communicating with each other and an outside source via cellphones and I believe the outside source was directing them. Believe me when I tell tell you that no values their privacy more than police officers but in this day and age you have to give up certain liberties to make sure we can do everything in our power to prevent another situation like 9/11

Let me correct myself. I said Dubai when I meant to say Mumbai.

This has nothing to do with the patrolman on the street who for the most part has been doing a fantastic job.

Saying that, I find this ripe for abuse, once the higher level police get their hands on this, it will be used for normal police use, not terrorists and prevention. For example someone takes hostages, bang shut down 10 square blocks, and that isn't the intention.

And as far as making money or not making money, I pay for a service and expect to be able to use it.

I agree 100%.Now that the police have announced they will jam cell phones the terrorists will use 2 way radios or cb's. Give government more power and they WILL abuse it. I worked with a police watchdog agency for awhile and was shocked the way police sidestep the law in the name of the law.If we give up our civil liberties the terrorists win.
