The Pre Is Running Linux

That makes since, at a Webinar this past summer an official from Sprint said they will be running a Linux based device second quarter 2009 at the latest. For you ATT customer wanting this you will have to buy the unlocked GSM Euro version, Palm is not making plans for a GSM American version. That means $$$$ unless you jump over to Sprint which would make since due to the fact ATT charges an arm & a leg!

Ah de poor Sprint FanBoi's thought they knew it all, except unlike CDMA, you don't have to buy your phones carrier branded with GSM.

hmm sounds like the fanboi is right to me read the last link he sent:

Update: We've just seen a copy of the Pre's press release, and sadly, the 3G GSM version is listed as being intended for "other regions" -- in other words, places not served by Sprint. The good news, we guess, is that we've also confirmed that it's HSDPA, so at least it'll be hauling ass.

read that as expensive since it wont be available directly from the carriers.
