most likely they will never officially partner, but what will happen is they will release a full quad band gsm/tri band hsdpa version for europe/rest of world and just pick it up unlocked for some outrageous sum of dollars. almost looks worth it. and this really makes nokias latest line of phones look pretty bad. âšī¸

gizmodo and some other gadget sites have stated that there WILL BE a gsm and 3g variant of the phone. Palm said so themselves apparently. i'm sorry i dont have the official quote or link or anything. but it's only a matter of time. i'd guess probably by the end of the year. but who knows, maybe they'll just launch it unlocked and unsubsidized from their website. i think its a very nice phone but it'll have to take a lot to pry me away from the Bold

Palm later confirmed that it is also working on a WCDMA version of the Pre, though it didn't say when or where it would be made available.

WCDMA doesn't necessarily mean there will be a version with US GSM frequencies.
