Incompetent!

bones boy

Jeez this guy is a nut! Okay so he's all for getting rid of smut and free speech. This was apparent in how he let Sirius and XM's merger rot and now this new company will never make a dime (because the hype behind satellite radio faded). Now he sells his morals (whatever morals they are) right out the window to get this grandiose idea of free wireless Internet approved by his counterparts. And why do we need free wireless Internet? Wireless access at the library, school, work, Starbucks, Borders, and most unlocked neighbor's access points not enough for you?

I'm so sick of utterly incompetent people being thrust into positions of power because they have a Masters degree from Harvard or their daddy got them the job or someone thinks they ...

Agreed that there is some wackiness to this guy, but many geniuses have been considered somewhat wacked!

I am not saying this guy is a genius in anyway. However, the push to have everyone wireless in the future makes this viable.

I think the more compelling question was raised in the first part of your response, and that is simply: Why sell out your morality for a dollar? When you take a stance on one side or the other of the morality issue, you may be dis-liked for your position by the other side, but at least people can respect the fact that you took a side in the first place. Now this guy is seen as a sell-out, and that is a title of dis-respect, which he richly deserves.

I am all for blocking pornography as an instant access option, so I am saddened by this whole story.

I am more saddened for the fact that the ones that would vote for it, would only do it if porn was allowed! That is what's really scary.

I'm not really for instant pornography access to the masses, but the government has zero right to control internet access.

It would be like living in Egypt, Syria, Iran, etc.

Agreed, but the govt. always has to feel like it has some control over things. Add China to that list

No Doubt on that. I guess my theory is that if everyone is to have internet in the future, free internet should have some limitations. Especially when devices have internet capability. Anyone under 17 will have the power to access these sites without parental control. So I see where he was heading but then he sold out.

I agree but I also think the gov' as no right to say that a carrier has to offer free internet service. Why should people who cant afford internet service be given free service while the people who can afford are going to be the ones who are paying for it? Internet service is NOT a nessessity! You know the end users are going to get yet another charge on there bill covering the cost of the "free" internet.

This is very true. It's just like us end users getting socked with infrastructure fees? Or us taxpayers paying for other government freebies to non-payers? You would have the choice of having free internet too. But would you enjoy it? I totally agree with you on your reply however the trade off is a much slower internet experience since WiMax and LTE are coming to light. Free would be more of a liability rather than an asset for those that have it in this case. I pay and would continue to pay to have the best inernet experience. Free internet is nice but not at a painstaking snails pace that pales to what we paying customers will experience in the near future. But please do not take me the wrong way, because I truly don't believe in handouts...

Um, the 10 year olds in elementary school with everything family share plans can access the porn now... This really is a moot issue, porn and everything else dangerous out there is a reality that parents just need to step up to and either work harder at protecting their kids or shut the hell up! How many of us sneaked a look at a naked mag at a store as a child, or snuck a look at the playboy channel while everyone was asleep?!?! Get real people, you were born naked, and none of us via immaculate conception. it happened while your parents were doing exactly what's going on in porn. fetish porn is kind of a grey area, but you get my point. everywhere else the naked body is celebrated, here its censored, feared, shunned, like at some poi...

I see where your going with this but this is a very dangerous topic for two reasons:

On one hand we are challenging the freedom of speech or implementing censorship.
But on the other hand we are allowing young kids access to a very harmful or degrading environment.

You have Porn which is a multi-billion dollar business which generates cash.
However, then you have at least 22 percent of porn viewers that are under the age of 18. Out of that 22 percent, 38 percent are 16 or under! This is staggering! So what is YOUR solution?

For the record, continuing this form of made up industry, charging people for something that essentially doesn't cost you anything extra to produce than the free TV and Radio content, just goes on to promote that horrid sense of the haves and have nots that put us where we are now... from that you have execs making hideous salaries and perks, your cable bill that once upon a time was 30 bucks is now $180 for basically the same content, just repeated in 4 languages, and duplicated to 400 channels of the same thing. And the thing that gets me is your paying for the premium commercial free viewing experience, but they run their own commercials all day and occasionally sneak in an advertiser on you, leaving you again, with the same crap u got f...
