sprint already has the fastest 3g network and the new 4g will be 5xs faster; thats impressive and it will cover 60 million people by the end of 09. Way ahead of verizon and LTE which ATT n some others may do is at least a year away. With dropped calls between the carriers being a less than 1 percent this is def. a difference maker.

Sprint doesn't have the fastest 3G network... sorry.

And what kind of craptastically gimped WiMax are they deploying if it's only 5x faster than Rev A?

HSPA(which I am sure you are talking about)maybe faster but not enough to mention. The difference is slight for phones and slightly faster for Aircards. The point is that WiMax will be much faster than any current wireless broadband technology. I think that is what he is trying to convey. It would be foolish to ignore these speeds and capabilities. Do you not want the faster speeds and services anywhere you go instead of just at home? Whether you accept it or not, this will be so much more than you can get anywhere in the world until LTE becomes
reality.

My question is to you: Are you going to wait two years? I personally am not! just because LTE was chosen for the standard does not mean WiMax is not a worthy alternative. This is an awes...

IN the end LTE will be faster than Wimax so Sprint will switch over then.

That is why they positioned themselves where they are. I can at least enjoy 2 years of much higher than current speeds 'til then. LTE is probably where I will be but not now. Everyone is so hyped to jump on the newest devices. Why not the technology that powers them? I don't know about you, but I want the fastest speeds and the most capabilities out of the device I purchase. Wimax is that angle I thrive for presently.

That is impressive! I feel we may see a decrease in these speeds as further deployments take place. Those speeds should be followed by an increase again down the road with improvements. As you know, I am a huge advocate of Sprint and WiMax. I have been watching both evolve. WiMax is definitely underated. While LTE is technically more advanced and faster, I feel it "may" become a victim of too much control. I am not an employee of Sprint, but my support of the company is totally ...
