Question:
I saw a spec sheet on Wirefly that has this as a CDMA device with EVDO REV A data, an iDEN radio for PTT and WIFI as well. Oh yeah, they also say it has GSM support for overseas.
Could this possibly be?
...
I haven't heard of anything like that...
But i guess if you wanted to twist it to say that via wi-fi it could get those types of speeds and iden networks do exist outside of the united states for international travel...Wouldn't be the first 3rd party company to "stretch" the truth
...
Yeah, but this specifically stated CDMA EVDO and GSM. It even gave the bands (don't remember which they were)
I'm leaning toward not believing it because sprint.com doesn't say anything about it, but in another forum, someone said they called CS and it was indeed EVDO capable.
...
Nope, IDEN only. so only on the Nextel network, Nextel Direct Connect. It replaces the very old 7100i BlackBerry Nextel phone.
...
Don't forget, this phone is pretty much the Blackberry Curve (which is already on Sprint's CDMA network) with Direct Connect added.
...
This handset only runs on iden 800mhz, no CDMA technology.
...
finally someone who knows what they r talking about. this phone is iden only. it does have built in wi-fi to help with data speeds
...
Yeah, that was my understanding until today. When someone told me it had EVDO data, I thought they were dead wrong, but then I Googled "8350i EVDO" and I got a few results,so I thought I would at least put it out there.
The theory I am operating under now is that when the hybrids were first launched, there was supposed to be a Blackberry at some point. Perhaps some sites are getting the specs mixed up with that abandoned device.
I mean, why would it have both EVDO and WIFI?
