what if the teen is driving and needs directions. i understand text messaging, but what about calls? everytime the teen needs directions thier gonna have to pell over and turn the car off. and why is it only targeted towards teens, ive been rear ended by people in thier 40`s cause thier trying to text message. its a great safety tool, dont get me wrong. but there should be a little more detail to this. i think that the device should turns the call part on when the customer leaves a certain area.

what if...

the driver slams into a ravine or another car and the driver's car is totaled and the key is broke? (not likely, but a likely scenerio)

so much for the initial reason for having a phone for calling in case of an emergency.

get the kid a $40 bluetooth to talk with, and tell them not to txt while driving. if they txt and wreck, then they will feel the consequences if their parents do the right thing and punish them.

That scenario COULD happen, but a teen is MUCH more likely to get in a wreck because they are talking or texting, so I think you play the odds on this one.

Plus, the consequences of a serious wreck due to improper phone usage could be death or permanent injury.

This scenario is stupid, sorry... but it's just stupid. It sounds like the same type of scenario people use for not wearing a seatbelt, "well if i get into an accident and my car catches on fire, what happens if my seatbelt doesnt eject??". It's a big IF. In california you are not able to talk on your cell phone if under the age of 18 unless you are dialing 911, bluetooth is not an option. The shopping center in front of the store i work at there is a stop sign and every day there is almst an accident because somebody i text msging on their cell phone, this would eliminate a lot of those.

I think this device is targeted towards teens. If it costs $50 then anyone can buy it

Well lets see. Im a teen sorta just getting out of those years. But the person with scenario is right. Its not really a big IF. I drive all over the place and see accidents like that all time. ive seen two in one day. The first thing i saw was the person getting on the phone to call for help. I dont like this little invention at all. I dont txt sometimes call but i make it quick. Accidents are mistakes. and every teen makes them. That is how they learn. I wrecked my car before summer came and i had to work all summer to get a new car. I learned to drive all crazy like or i could loose my car. Now i drive just fine in another car. Teens have to learn not to do stupid things and sometimes they have to learn the hard. I dont want any deaths but...

The reason it is targeting teens is because they are the only ones who need to "accept" things like this in return for service.

I doubt many people would put this on their own phones unless they are required.

Why just teens. I seen plenty of idiots older than 16-20+ driving while talking and now texting on their phones. Perhaps they should have this illegal device in their car as well.

Because they don't vote, nor care to. So society finds them an easy mark. It is the same driving infraction wither they are 17 or 77.
