I keep wondering what will happen to Sprint...

This is by no means a bash Sprint thread so don't get all defensive over your chosen cell phone company...

Sprint and Verizon had cheap roaming agreements with Alltel (the largest cellular network by area). Sprint and Verizon put each other at the bottom of their PRL because of the expense of it. So, what's going to happen now that Sprint no longer has a cheap roaming partner? Will they start charging for roaming again or will they think their network is strong enough to operate without roaming?

What they are doing is continuing to get the lowest ratings in just about every wireless category in the industry, and continue losing more customers than any other carrier, and continue laying off employees because of their company issues, all which have been the case for several quarters.

Not bashing on Sprint, but i do feel bad for them. They are trying to get there network back up, but now that Verizon has there Open Network and tons of new ideas for the future, i cant see Sprint doing very well.

And It is true that Sprint is lating off there workers, my friends dad worked for Sprint, and they layed him off a month ago, but Verizon gave him a job.

Verizon is really growing, and everyone knows that in the past 3 years, its became a huge boom. But sprint is loseing customers every quater. We have all seen the results.

If you have notice, all new phones dont have the org. Verizon Menu, and the phones arnt locked down. Bluetooth should be unlock, my Voyagers bluetooth works, i can send tones, pics, videos, ect.

In accordance w/ the DoJ/FCC/FTC merger consent conditions, VZW must freeze roaming rates for at least four years.

I remember Alltel signing a 10 year roaming agreement with Sprint in '05 or '06. So wouldn't Verizon in purchasing Alltel have to honor Alltel's contracts and obligations.

Verizon has to honor Alltel's roaming agreements. This is great for Broadband Access users because Verizon previously did not have an EV-DO roaming agreement with Sprint or Alltel. Check AND check!
