Verizon Wireless Targets LTE Build Out for 2009
Sales pitch?

Verizon said early last year whenever they announced they would go to LTE that they expected to have the first networks deployed in 09. this isnt new.
yeah i love how these people are crying already about a future dated network enhancement we announced last year , feb 07.
sad people will find any reason to hate the best.
Now there going to be the first with LTE.. and notice AT&T said it this year AFTER Verizon. AT&T has too much work to do on:
1. Coverage. No service out West: MT, ND, SD, NB, ect.
2. 3G Network. It sucks, its not in enought places to even think about LTE yet.

🤣 But Kanye gets the chicks!
Starting now means that they can spread the costs over several years. Expect it in some of the larger cities first, then generally growing from them.
But since LTE is the natural path for GSM, I find it inconceivable that a CDMA carrier would be able to access a fully loaded LTE before a GSM carrier. I feel it is not the LTE as it will be in a couple of years. My "opinion" is that will be an extremely underpowered version that they are slapping over their network as a bandaid to buy time. Hence my thought they are just trying to divert attention away from WiMax and HSPA. Which is my next theory: Why waste time and money building out HSPA if indeed LTE was this far ready for deployment? Just a question.
LTE is a new technology. I don't find it inconceivable that VZW would be able to deploy "full" LTE before a GSM carrier if they are set on it. Some Canadian CDMA carriers have stated they are going to deploy UMTS before transitioning to LTE. UMTS isn't on the CDMA upgrade path, either. So long as the chipsets are available and any two technologies aren't tied together, I don't think it matter WHAT technology a carrier chooses.
And what is VZW buying time for? Qualcomm has abandoned R&D on UMB, which was supposed to the CDMA upgrade path equivalent of LTE.
