GPS Assisted or Dedicated

One thing about this review it does not specify is whether this is Assisted GPS (Has to have carrier signal) or Dedicated GPS (turn on airplane mode and go into the Wilds).

It's Dedicated. I'm a Tmo Rep and they had a training on it that highlighted that you could still use the GPS in areas that don't have cell phone signal.

From the Garmin website:

"Advance Navigation/LBS feature:
North American maps & POIs, Connected Services, Indoor location, Junction view with lane assist, Where am I?, Where's My Car Parked?, Track Logs & Route Planning"

So if it has indoor location, I think that means that it has both satellite GPS and A-GPS assisted by cellular towers.
