Verizon's phone selection is finally starting to get better but not quiet there yet... According to PhoneArena.com, XV6850 aka HTC Raphael is supposed to come out 11/24 and Samsung Omnia (CDMA version) is supposed to come out 12/15... hmm, maybe i should wait and not get the Blackberry Storm...

Never heard of someone passing on a Storm yet 🤣
The Storm will be Verizons flagship phone for a while.
To each his own I guess 😳

i think quite a few people will pass on the storm, because you are correct in saying to each his own. everyone is saying "wow, touchscreen blackberry" not realizing they probably won't use a fourth of the features on it. thats why these other new phones coming out are a great addition. but i do agree it will be verizon's flagship phone for awhile, its just not a phone thats for everyone.

Most business people I know prefer a keypad to a touchscreen. I think it will be awhile before touch screens become the norm for business users.

First of all I want to make it clear I'm not disagreeing w/u, I'm not a business person but I too prefer a physical keyboard over a touch screen only device, though there are quite a few devices coming out that have both touch screens and physical keyboards, G1, and Touch Pro just to name a few.

I just came across this article over @ Cnet News:

I think there is a general progression towards touch screens and eventually the vast majority of phones will be touch screen. The technology just isn't quite there yet.

Personally I'd rather have a hybrid device, qwerty keyboard and large touch screen, kinda like a combination of the HTC Touch Pro & HTC Touch HD.

I have a Palm and it has both a touchscreen and QWERTY keyboard. There is not enough screen real estate to make me happy. I suppose the solution is a slide out keyboard format, but then the phone itself gets a little bulky.

Tough deal all the way around I suppose

I know a lot of people skipping out on the Storm right now. Our business is not even going to have them in stock, and instead sell cheaper phones for the holiday season. The Storm is amazing and I love the phone, but the reality is that right now a lot of people are not going to want to throw down $200+ for a phone during the Christmas season...plus add a mandatory $30+ package to their bill. I dont think sales for the Storm will go well until after the new year.

i think this is just what you think.

People save there money up for this who really want it.

it is going to be a big hit.

and with the holidays coming up, i can see this being sold out.

Reality for the Storm is Crackberry.com is reporting 400,000 in stock for it's release.

This is a big phone release. Bestbuy is taking $50 deposits for them, VZ stores are opening early, and at Xmas you would sell more than any time of the year. People are even camping out for this phone

The zillions of iphones sold at $200 and far above shoot down any theory that people aren't willing to pay for these types of phones. A retailer would be shooting itself in the foot for not at least offering them.

The is always gonna be a trade off. Wheither you have a all touch screen or hybrid device.

With a all touch you get a much smaller phone but are forced to use an on screen keyboard.

On the other hand a Hybrid allows you to type much faster and still use all the features of the smaller all touch screen device, but you get a bulky phone.

Regardless the hybrid has the clear advantage because you can do more and work more efficiently or just use the same features as the all touch screen version.

Wish that were true with the Hybrid Palm I have. The touch screen is small enough you have to use a stylus or risk touching the wrong buttons. Dial out using the keypad can be difficult with tiny buttons too.
