this is an interesting topic, why would consumers pay to upload their pix when other carries dont charge at all? take for example tmobile offers their customers unlimited uploads to kodak gallery or their website. just doesnt seem to make sense. does anyone else have same views?

sprint isn't charging for photobucket of flickr uploads either. It's just VZW trying (successfully at that) to squeeze more money out of its subscribers. I guess it has to pay for the Alltel buy out somehow.

I have been sending pictures and videos to Photobucket for over 3 years now. I can go to the bucket from pc and I have over 8 pages of things. So what happens to me now?If I send another pic will I start getting charged from VZW? I have been sending to snapfish without any problems(no charge. Kodak gallery was good and then they cut off my mobile uploads unless I paid something like $24.00 a year for it so I dropped them, and now this photobucket issue.

Verizon Wireless users are used to paying for things other providers throw in for free. The only thing I can think of that's similar to this charge is with the iPhone Apple requires .Mac if you want to use the 'built in' online galleries, except there are 8 billion other free apps for Flickr uploads.

Hell, Sprint INCLUDES unlimited online photo storage for ALL of your photos.

C'mon, gotta love the crippled UI, inability to install 3rd party software, and uses-your-sms-limit IM.

I want to see all the fanboys reply to this.

BREW literally screwed up innovation. I can praise Sprint on this one, since they chose Java, which doesn't require paying thousands of dollars to get an app from a developer to the market.

I'll give you the credit for JAVA, but again, you are a JAVA-MAN cuz its free... Why pay thousands of dollars to program & get an app on a device when you can write java script for free... blah-blah-blah... geez, sure hope you are not in an IT job... What kinda of car do you guys drive? I am sure its far from free and I bet you dont expect your cable company to pass along free MMA fights to you because the it wont hurt to let you watch it for free since its already being broadcast... Come-on, stop being so cheap!!

Here's a question- why would you PAY for something worse than something that is FREE? Furthermore, why is it right to force your users to PAY for something and not even give them a choice?

BREW offers no end-user advantage over Java. Sprint still makes money off of Java, but customers still can install their OWN applications. With VZW they have NO CHOICE. So Sprint is focused on providing a better user experience to make money, VZW isn't because customers HAVE to pay one way or another.
