This is gonna be pretty sweet. Hope Sprint doesn't go to complete crap and pulls itself out of the massive canyon they are in. Maybe WiMax will end up saving them... but then again, maybe not?

When it comes to launching more cities, Sprint just doesn't seem to be ambitous at all, T-Mobile keeps adding cities to they're 3G network. For some reason Sprint just doesn't seem to be adding more, and more cities. I don't know what the deal is with the rollout.

Do you know what you're talking about? WiMax and 3G are totally different. T-Mo's 3G is like Sprint's existing EDVO service. WiMax is like wireless cable internet. Sprint already has EVDO service in almost every major city and surrounding area.

BTW, Sprint won't even get this due to the fact that it's GSM w/WiMax. I'm sure this is something that will be marketed over in Russia.

1st of all there are enough rude people on Phone Scoop as it is.

I was comparing the two in terms of ambitions.

Granted, that was pretty rude, but he's got a point jay, T-mo's 3G is behind EVERYONE. Sprint has evdo rolled out in more places then anyone, including verizions V-cast and ATTs hsdpa. As it is, ATT's 3g barely works ANYWHERE, and even THEY are still trying to catch up. They have to build the wi-max radios on top of existing sprint towers, and frankly, sprint doesn't have the up-front capital to just get it done. That's why they've partnered with clearwire, motorola, and intel as investors to get the ball rolling. ATT and Verizon are waiting for LTE (which is still a concept, not even a working proto-type) and should've jumped on wimax FIRST to completely wipe out sprint...if that was what they wanted to do. WiMax was the knock-out punch tho...

This isn't about EVDO, the article is about an HTC WiMax device, I am comparing Tmo rolling out they're 3G Vs. Sprint rolling out WiMax, each of the carriers newest networks. And it seems to me Sprint isn't very ambitous about WiMax, I'm not commenting about EVDO.

but the fact remains the same...tmobile is playing catchup...3G was introduced what like 10 yrs ago...wimax is in a prototype state...only rolling out in one city(baltimore) is a test run. once all the kinks it will be readily available. and even then...ambitious or not...where do you live...chances are...there isn't tmobile 3g within a hundred miles of you. check a sprint coverage map...i bet EVDO or EVDO rev-A is all over the area which is the equivelent of 3g. so before you start to state that sprint isn't ambitious enough...remember EVDO has been out a while and blankets most of the u.s. so before you brag about some 3g coverage that tmobile is just now rolling out with...answer another question...why is tmobile rolling out with a p...

Actually, Sprint/clearwire are very ambitious about World Interoperability Microwave Access(WiMax). Sprint really has no reason to build out anymore 3G because it is already everywhere there is Sprint Service. Look how long it has taken for the other companies to deploy 3G on most their network and they are not finished yet. You have to ask yourself why is Verizon, TMO and ATT spending so much money on 3G if LTE is in fact right around the corner? It makes you think doesn't it? Then there is Sprint rolling out the next step in technology. Their main focus is on bringing this new technology to everyone first. FCC has finally given the ok for Sprint and Clearwire to merge which will now expedite futher Launches. With both companies combining t...

You Mr. Slammer are not rude, thank you. So is what your saying is that now that the Sprint/Clearwire merger has been approved more launches are imminent?

What would you say we can expect with for launches between now and say March?

Gosh, all this time I thought WiMax stood for Wireless to the Maxx.

Jay, I really do not have all the facts on launches but I can tell you to go onto www.xohm.com and you can see some info that may or may not be interesting. I do know that they are indeed being very aggressive in deloying WiMax as fast as possible.
Since I do not work for any carrier, I feel I can be unbiased in my thoughts and opinions and find no need to be rude to defend carriers. I work off of experiences. In the 21 years I have owned a cellphone, I have had every major carrier except alltel and I feel if a company works for you, stay with them. Frankly, I find every carrier out there a rip off. So I stick with whomever gives me the cheapest price.

Sprint got down to $2 bucks a share yesterday. I told my dad go go buy some.. about 1000 or so, he'd have $2000-2200 in to it after commissions, and $30000 in two to three years after sprint bounces back and gets customers back the honest way, earning them back.

Umm... This phone won't do much for Sprint, as its WiMAX + GSM 900/1800/1900. No CDMA radios.

Unless this is designed to work solely in the few cities that Xohm has deployed WiMAX, it won't sell. If Xohm were to sell a device, it would make sense to sell EVDO Rev A + WiMAX so that calls would at least work outside of the urban areas deployed. This device would have to roam on AT&T or T-Mobile 1900MHz GSM.
