Verizonal

What do you think will happen do you think you will become Verizon Agents. I work for a Verizon Agent and we have really not heard either way.

I would imagine that agents will have to reapply with Verizon.

Verizon is very picky about where they put their authorized dealers. They like to avoid saturation. So, if there is a VZW store, Circuit City, BJ's Wholesale Club and an agent or 2 already, it may be tough to be rebranded VZW.

I am think you are right, I have heard from a lot of Alltel Agents that think they are just going to become Verizon Stores. Hope that is not what happens.

I doubt, or at least truly hope that any Alltel store doesnt automatically turn into Verizon stores. I live in a small city, and there are two alltel stores in our ONE mall, and one corporate Verizon store. If they turn those two Alltel stores into Verizon stores, that means they will have corporate stores competing with each other within a 500 yard radius...

Plus, there is another Corporate store right next to our Indirect agent store. I I have talked with their store and they dont think they will turn into a corporate store.

If all Alltel stores are turned into Verizon stores...there would be one on every corner....oh dear.

I work for Alltel now. I was employed by Verizon. (hence the name) When I worked for VZW in FL their corporate stores had to be at least 3 miles apart (with the exception of Circuit Cities and BJ's Clubs). Their authorized dealers had to be at least 1 mile apart.

With the merger they may relax these standards a bit. But I'm pretty confident that there will not be 2-3 VZW stores in the same mall. At best, you'll get 1 corporate store and 1 authorized dealer. In my opinion...

That is what I figured too. I work for a Authorized agent, and would be shocked if they turned all Alltel stores into Verizon stores. I wasnt exactly sure of the mileage information, so thanks for the clarification.

This conversion is going to be a mess.....(for EVERYONE)

when I asked the corp store right near me in the mall, they said (currently) there cannot be an agent store in the same building unless the building and market pops are over a certain size, and any agent stores must be a certain distance from that building, or on a different traffic pattern. Stand alone stores must also have a certain distance between them as well. (I'll go with Tampa jim's three miles on that figure I didn't ask that distance.)
