What total BS. Before the merger Nextel was the best wireless provider in the US, based on all industry metrics. At the same time, based on the exact same metrics, Sprint was in the cellar. Customers didn't abandon Nextel because of Nextel, they abandoned because of Sprint's incompetence and Sprint's astonishingly bad handling of the Nextel subscriber base and letting the iDEN network go to pot.

We all know and agree that iDEN was not good at data; Sprint's CDMA is much better at data than is iDEN. But in all fairness and to be perfectly accurate, Nextel WAS working on a WiMax-precursor d...
