When you think that it's coming from Sprint, who has brought us such fine smartphones as the Palm Centro, HTC Apache, That-piece-of-garbage-that-came-before-the-HT C-Apache-that-was-supposed-to-get-an-EVDO update-but-never-did, the BETTER THAN IPHONE!!! HTC Mogul, Just about every Palm Treo, The-phone-from-hell Motorola Q, the is-this-a-joke HTC Touch, and let's not get started on the Nextel lineup.

I can understand Sprint focusing on user experience rather than novelty, but look at their track record- they've pretty much do nothing but bet on the wrong horse.

Why the hell are they showing this restraint on a platform that shows, you know, promise? Where the hell was this judgement when that POS HTC Touch got greenlighted? Or good god.....

Here are the facts:

Sprint was not the only carrier to carry most of the phones you are whining about. So lets look at the phones you specifically mention....
Centro:
started with sprint, now also carried by VZW and ATT. if it were such a pos, wouldn't the other two have chosen not to carry it at all?

Apache (aka PPC6700,XV-6700):
also carried by Alltel, VZW and Qwest.

Mogul:
QWest, Alltel, VZW, USCellular

moto Q:
Alltel, USCC, AMp'd, VZW, Qwest

Touch:
alltel, USCC, VZW

treo:
first only 5 of the 14 treos palm has produced have been available on Sprint.
second, almost every treo that has been released for sprint has been carried by another carrier and those with a GSM counterpart has had a nearly identical user r...

Right, but many of these phones were either Sprint-firsts or were Sprint's feature phones. E.G. Mogul, Apache, and Centro. VZW doesn't fare much better, but you'll notice the time difference between VZW and Sprint's Blackberry offerings...

'nuff said.

but these phone are all pretty hot in there own way. 6700 was one of the only ones in its time for business user they mixed it up with the mogul which i currently have( i love the phone) so much i can do with that phone. and now with a 4gb man the possibilities are endless. your comparing oranges to apples. sprint vrzn and att have endless phone to choose from verses tmobile which the only think you can choose from really is the color of the phone. come on now the "all great tmobile sidekick" how is it that after numorous models they all have the same known issues randomly turning off even the TWO-THOUSAND-EIGHT version has the same problem. the tmobile shawdow screen always goes white randomly. are you serious, w490 screen just decideds nev...

Because the company engineering the platform has a stellar track record. That's more than 90% of Sprint Smartphones have.

ummm so what smartphones does sprint have that were engineered by companies that do not have stellar track records?

the centro? no wait ... that's Palm, tens of millions of units sold before they even started on cell phones and hundreds of thousands of cell phones sold before they even started with sprint. hmmm NEXT!!

Ahhhh he must be talking about the windows platform phones. that's it. Windows, the new comer ... unless you count somewhere between 70-85% of computers world wide that use windows and that almost every computer user at one point or another in their life has used some form of windows. 👀

OOH!!! Blackberry!! that's it the most stable OS out there for mobile use right now ... annd that's not gonna back ...
