It's probably not totally unbelievable since it says late 2009. So they have a whole year to cut costs and as things get cheaper and cameras get higher mega pixels for the same cost, touch screen technology gets cost cuts since there is more on the market....etc. It's feasible that they could get the cost cheaper. The G1 by that time will probably be $99 by then, and then it will be the one $50 cheaper than this Android phone Motorola is conjuring up. 🙂

What I'm interested to know is that if this device is GSM or CDMA.
On one hand, this could be the device Sprint may release when they are ready to release Android for CDMA.
However, Moto is usually GSM-friendly when it comes to releasing phones of this nature. Even if that were the case, it would be doubtful it could be for T-Mobile, most likely for European markets.

Why is it doubtful that it could be for T-Mobile? They have a 3G network now to support phones like these....

1. There's no telling that Moto would add the 1700 MHz band for the phone, if this device is GSM.
2. Does Tmo want another phone that could directly compete with the G1 in such a short period of time? That's one of the reasons why VZW and AT&T haven't jumped on the Android bandwagon; it directly competes with the Dare and iPhone respectively, and why Sprint is waiting on Android, as it competes directly with Instinct.
3. What device does Sprint have in store when they get ready for Android? I haven't seen what they're plans are for it, although I haven't visited the Sprint forums here. It could be a slim possibility that this device is for them.
